Dusty was delivered by c-section on September 21, 2007. He was the product of a long planned breeding of his mom, Luna, to Kobe (CH MACH Prospect's Slam Dunk UD RE MH MXP8 MJP6 PAX2), a yellow dog from California who demonstrated excellence in all areas. Kobe is a conformation champion, an agility champion, and has the highest level performance titles in obedience, rally obedience, and retriever hunt tests.
Dusty was originally placed with someone as a replacement for an older service dog which had died. When the new owner, due to continuing health problems, was forced to give him up, we brought Dusty back home. He has since been training for field work. Although significantly behind his sister Abby, Dusty is catching up quickly. He passed a started test (UKC) in his first competitive outing, then proceeded to earn his JH (AKC Junior Hunter) title by passing 4 tests in 4 tries. He has also earned his WC (working certificate), passed 2 AKC senior hunter tests and 2 HRC seasoned tests. On March 14, 2010 Dusty completed his SH title and on May 15, 2010 he completed his Hunting Retriever (HR) title. He earned his Working Certificate Excellent (WCX) title at the Heart of Texas Labrador Retriever Club's spring test on June 6, 2010. He completed his Hunting Retriever Championship on October 31, 2010 at the Heart of Texas Retriever club HRC fall test.
