Here is an idea for a stiffener arrangement for a T-Junction of 5 foot 
diameter same-sized cylinders. Stiffeners are spaced 1 foot apart. A 
diagonal stiffener directs forces along the join of the cylinders. The 
ribs would join smoothly rather than just end abruptly as shown in the 
image.
