In January 2011 Beth, Niel and Kenny travelled via Amtrak to Essex, MT and the Izaak Walton Inn for four days of snowshoeing, cross country skiing, reading, games and sitting in front of the fireplace ... a relaxing and different vacation for us.
We travelled via the Amtrak "Empire Builder" from Winona, MN to Essex, MT, a 25 hour ride.
Twice a day Amtrak stops close to the inn

The Izaak Walton Inn was built in 1939 to house railrood workers. The railroad is still a major source of activity in the area
