Wiegand Family Trip to England and Scotland

Wiegand Family Trip to England and Scotland

Trip itinerary

Friday night, 3/14/03, we left Minneapolis/St. Paul at 6:40PM, arriving in London, Gatwick Airport at 8:55AM (2:55AM CST) Saturday morning. Bob met us at the airport and got us back to Shepperton, south east of London. We spent Saturday actively touring Windsor Castle so that we could make it through supper before calling it a day. Click here for more information about Shepperton.

Sunday rented rent a car and traveled a little north of London to visit Bletchley Park. During WW2 the German armed forces top secret codes were broken there, providing the allies with vital information towards their war effort. The world's first programmable computer were initiated at Bletchley Park. For more information about Bletchley Park click here, here, here, here, here and here.

After touring Bletchley Park we traveled the back ways back to London so that we could see some of the countryside and visit one of England's many stone circles.

Monday and Tuesday we toured ourselves around downtown London. Bob and Byrna are near a train station so we were able to get into London without driving.

Wednesday morning and early afternoon we traveled by train to Edinburgh, Scotland. For more information about Edinburgh click here and here.

Thursday we celebrated a significant milestone in Beth's life.

Friday evening we flew back to London on flight 198 departing Edinburgh at 16:50, arriving London Gatwick (South Terminal) at 18:25.

Saturday we had another day of touring in London

Sunday, 3/23/03, about noon we left London, Gatwich, arriving in St. Paul at 3:00 in the afternoon (9PM London time). On our way home we dropped Jimmy off at the Minneapolis bus depot for his ride back to Duluth.
