Administrative Policy Writing
“Plagiarism” Defined by the Context
Think about the purpose of this document:
to prove that the author has performed research on
scrap tires, but to provide information to the public.
The public does not care if you are incorporating ideas
that are not your own. They just want the information.
Plagiarism is defined by the
document. In the working world, people “plagiarize” ideas
all the time through forms and templates.
In the academic setting, you are writing to show your
instructor what you know and how you are able to work
with ideas. Thus, submitting your own work and giving
credit to your sources are essential.
